OPEN THE DOOR

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Revelation 3: 20 King James Version

The first knock on our heart’s door is Jesus asking us to accept His atoning blood for our sins and invite Him into our hearts to be our personal Saviour. Unless we answer that first knock, we will never hear another knock. He knocks on our heart’s door at other times in our lives. There are times that He wants to tell us something and other times He just wants to fellowship with us. How sad that we get so busy with our daily schedules that we don’t recognize Him when He is knocking to get our attention.

Just as we need to open the door for Jesus, we need to close the door to satan. We must not allow satan to work through us by the critical and harsh words we say to our families, loved ones and friends. I saw a program on television many years ago. A robber had been breaking into homes on the same street. One family didn’t trust the locks on the doors so they pushed a heavy piece of furniture against the door. Our feeble attempts to lock satan out of our hearts will never be able to withstand against his fiery darts. We must ask Jesus to stand guard at the door of our hearts and be our protector and shield.

Have you opened the door and allowed Jesus to deposit His atoning blood and forgiveness in your heart? Has there ever been a time when you said “yes” to the Christ of Calvary? If Jesus were to come back today, are you ready to meet Him? Have you surrendered everything you have to Him? If people could see your heart’s door, would they see Jesus and His Love, or would they see satan and his hatred?
