OUR DEPENDABLE SAVIOUR

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

Hebrews 13: 8 King James Version

I received a very frustrating telephone call from someone yesterday that resulted in my plans being changed. I don’t like change. I want everything and everyone in their place. I thought I was the only one who felt like this until I heard a dear friend say the same thing. This is one of the reasons I love and appreciate Jesus so much because as the verse says “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” No matter what changes come into our lives, we can depend on our Saviour to stay the same. He will always love us no matter how many times we fail Him. All of us fail Him at times but He still loves us.

In the midst of heartaches and devastating situations, we have hope because Jesus will be with us and walk with us through the storms of life. If you are going through a divorce, loss of a loved one, cancer, or any other thing that is devastating, breaks your heart and brings unwanted changes into your life, you can depend on Jesus to understand how you are feeling. His heart is full of compassion, tenderness and mercy. He loves you so much that He died for you and it hurts Him when you are hurting.

I think the question we need to ask ourselves is “Can Jesus depend on me”? Do we blame Him when things go wrong in our lives or do we remain faithful to Him? Do we continue to thank Him for all the wonderful things He has done for us in the past or do we forget about all the times He has rescued us from the attacks of satan and the world? No matter what heartaches we have and no matter what unwanted changes come into our lives, we should still praise Jesus because He is worthy to be praised at all times.

As long as we are in the world, we will say and do things that hurt others. Hopefully, we don’t do them on purpose but we aren’t as dependable as our Saviour. Yet, even though we will make mistakes and hurt our loved ones, we should strive to always be kind and loving to everyone. Can Jesus depend on you when He asks you to do something or do you always give Him an excuse when He asks you to do something? Can our Saviour depend on you to tell others of the love of Jesus? Are you faithful to show kindness, forgiveness and understanding to your family and loved ones? Thank God that we have a dependable Saviour who never changes!
