Several years ago, I was going door to door on visitation for church. I asked one lady “If you knew that God was telling you to sell your home and give it to missions, would you do it”? The lady didn’t hesitate. She said “No, I’ve worked hard for my home and everything I have is mine”. How that must have broken the Heart of our dear Saviour!
Everything we have belongs to Jesus. Our homes, our money, our time, our talents, our cars, boats and swimming pools. All these are given to us by Jesus because He Loves us and wants us to be happy. Our possessions are only temporary because we can’t take them with us when we die. The only thing we can take with us is how many people we have loved to Jesus.
We also need to give our rotten attitudes and unforgiving ways to Jesus and let Him give us new hearts and a love for others. If you love someone, then you want to spend as much time with that person as possible. Do you love Jesus? If so, how much time do you give Him during the day? Do you put Him on the shelf and only take Him down when you can squeeze Him into your busy schedule? Jesus had the busiest schedule that anyone will ever have, yet He made time for people.
Have you given your heart to Jesus or are you still in bondage to possessions and to the world? What is more important to you, your possessions or making Jesus happy?
