OUR HELPER

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.”

Isaiah 41: 10, 13 King James Version

In the last three weeks, I have received over one hundred prayer requests from people who are lonely and discouraged. Jesus tells us in these verses not to be dismayed because He will help us. Our families, loved ones and friends can pray for us, but only Jesus can see into our hearts and feel the pain and agony that we keep hidden for fear of ridicule and judgment. He will be faithful to help and encourage us through the darkness of the pain and torment.

When I think about the Saviour of the world holding my right hand, I am filled with such awe, gratitude and love for Him that it is impossible to put into words. One day, He suffered an agony and pain that we will never experience when He was crucified on the old rugged cross. Not only was His body bruised, beaten and tortured, His heart was beaten, bruised and tortured by the cruel words said to Him. He was rejected and despised and all He had ever shown was love.

Yes, we have many trials and heartaches, but none of us has ever felt the hurt, loneliness, pain and agony that Jesus felt. He asked His friends to pray for Him and they fell asleep. How His heart must have broken that day when He was praying for us and His friends couldn’t stay awake and watch and pray with Him. Today, He is asking us to watch and pray with Him for our families, loved ones, friends and a world that is dying without Jesus as their personal Saviour. Are you praying with Him?
