OUR JOY COMES FROM JESUS

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Psalm 16: 11 King James Version

I think that there are times in all of our lives when we get discouraged and feel like we can’t give another smile or take another step. Sometimes it feels like we are being bombarded with bills, with problems, with heartaches and with crises. No matter how many heartaches, trials and crises we have in our lives, if we have accepted Jesus as our personal Saviour then we have the joy of Jesus in our hearts. Jesus not only gives us joy; He is our joy.

We can be happy when we are with our spouses, children, parents, siblings, loved ones and friends but it is only by staying in the presence of Jesus that we will have the fulness of joy. Jesus is the only one who can take the darkness of pain, discouragement and sorrow from our hearts and replace them with the light of His compassionate understanding and His unconditional love. Jesus is the Sonshine of our hearts. He shines the light of hope and victory in our hearts when it feels like we have no hope and when we are discouraged.

Over the past two years I have received a lot of emails from people who were heartbroken and discouraged. Some of them had a lot of money and told me that they didn’t understand why they were unhappy when they had enough money. Then there were people who had only a little money and they too were unhappy and discouraged. It doesn’t matter if we are rich or if we are poor. All the money and all the material possessions in the world will not give us happiness and joy. Only Jesus can give us joy in the midst of our trials and heartaches.

If you are lonely, depressed, discouraged and don’t think you can take another step or give another smile, spend time fellowshipping with Jesus. He is waiting for you with His heart filled with compassionate, understanding and unconditional love and with His precious arms open wide to hug you close to His heart. He will give you so much joy that you will feel like you are going to explode with happiness and joy.

Are you staying in the presence of Jesus or are you spending a lot of time watching television? Again, it is only as we stay in the presence of our dear Saviour that we will have the fulness of joy. He paid an expensive price so that we can fellowship with Him. He gave His life on a cruel cross of agony and horror so that we can fellowship with Him. Please don’t put Him on the shelf and only take Him down when you need something. He deserves all of our time and all of our attention.
