OUR MAJESTIC KING

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Revelation 19: 11 - 16 King James Version

Yesterday, I watched the Gospel Music Television Network on my computer. George Beverly Shay was singing one of the greatest songs I have ever heard “How Great Thou Art”. My heart started beating with joy and a lump formed in my throat. I got so excited that it felt like I was literally in heaven. Because of the lump in my throat, I was unable to sing with him. I got tears in my eyes as I thought about the beauty of our awesome and great majestic King. I got up from my office chair and raised both hands up in honor to the one who gave His life for me. If we love Him, it is impossible to remain in our seats when He is being honored. If ever someone deserves recognition, honor and praise, it is Jesus, our precious King. He has earned the right to be praised and adored.

When I think about how the King of kings left His home and suffered and died on a cruel cross for me, I am humbled and I am filled with awe and gratitude. Who am I that He would leave His Father and His home to give me this great love that I do not deserve? Jesus is more than any word in the dictionary can adequately describe. He is the restorer of broken homes and broken lives. He picks up the pieces of our fragmented hearts that are shattered by cruel words and He puts them back together and once again deposits the joy, peace and happiness in our hearts that only He can give us. He is the one who is with us during the long lonely hours of the night when all the fears and doubts come back to haunt us. He is the one who takes our hands and walks beside us through the obstacles we face daily. He is the one who gives us the victory when we are fighting a battle. Without Him we have no peace, because He is our peace, joy and happiness.

He gently and tenderly enfolds us in His loving arms next to His compassionate heart and whispers softly in our ears “I love you. You are special to Me. I will never hurt you or let anyone else hurt you. I will never leave you, not even for a minute”. Is it any wonder why I love Him so much and want to be in His presence all day and all night? I find myself thinking about Him all the time because when we focus our thoughts on Him, we are able to withstand the poisonous darts that satan throws at us every day, and sometimes every hour. He is our shelter and protector from all the ugliness and violence that is so wide spread in our world.

Do you know this majestic King? Have you allowed Him to reign in your heart and life? Is He the ruler of your heart or are you still allowing satan to control your words and actions? There is no middle ground. Jesus is either our Saviour or satan is our destroyer. Thank God for our majestic King, the Lord Jesus Christ who willingly and sacrificially shed His precious blood so that we may be saved and live with Him for all eternity!
