OUR PHYSICIAN OF LOVE

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

Psalm 147: 3 King James Version

The Scripture for today’s devotion is only one verse but it is a power packed verse of love. I have seen many evangelists on television talking about Jesus healing us physically, but I can’t ever remember hearing any of them talk about how He heals us emotionally. I have experienced severe physical pain and I have had severe emotional pain due to a crippling depression. In my opinion, the emotional pain hurt worse than the physical pain.

I have received several emails over the last two years from people who were sad, discouraged, depressed and lonely and who felt all alone. Just yesterday, I received six emails from people who are heartbroken and who told me that because of the rejection and criticism that they have received from their families and from their friends they feel like giving up.

When we feel like giving up due to criticism and people judging us, we need to remember that Jesus didn’t give up when He was here on earth. He kept going day after day and He was criticized more than any person has ever been criticized or ever will be. His heart was broken day after day by people who rejected Him, ridiculed Him and who cursed Him.

Oh dear people, our Physician of love, our precious Saviour, feels your pain. He too was rejected and criticized when He was here on earth. The sad thing is that He is still being rejected and criticized by many people. If ever someone understands how we feel when people say harsh, judgmental and critical words to us, it is Jesus. He is longing to comfort us but we have to go to Him and tell Him all about it. He already knows how we feel but He wants us to tell Him how we are feeling.

If today you are feeling sad and lonely and you feel rejected by everybody and you think that nobody understands how you are feeling or even cares that you are hurting, I have good news for you. The Saviour of the world loves you so much that He died for you. There is no greater love than the love of our Heavenly Father and our precious Saviour. Run into the waiting arms of Jesus and allow Him to comfort and encourage you as only He can. Our families, our friends and our loved ones can comfort us but only Jesus can take the pain from our hearts.
