OUR SONG AND STRENGTH

“Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly. The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.”

Psalm 118: 13 – 17 King James Version

Often in our lives we have hurdles of grief, desperation, hopelessness, fear and what seem to be impossible situations to jump. In our own strength it is impossible to jump over these hurdles. It is only by placing our hand in the hand of our Saviour and leaning completely on Him will we be able to jump over the hurdles we face. The reason we fail so many times is because we try to do things in our own strength. It has not worked and will never work as we are powerless without Jesus. He is the only one who can pick us up and carry us over the mountains in our lives.

Not only is Jesus the strength of our lives, He is the song of our hearts. Every morning when I wake up, Jesus deposits His song of love in my heart. I can go through the day with a song in my heart even if I have tears in my eyes. All of this is because one day He reached down His nail scarred hand and lifted me up out of the garbage of my life, told me He loved me and would protect me and never let me go. He promised me that He would never hurt me; that He would never hit me or abuse me in any way. Is it any wonder why I love Him so much?

If you don’t have a song in your heart, cry out to Jesus. He is waiting for you with a heart filled with love, compassion, forgiveness, understanding, mercy, grace and kindness. You will never have a better friend than Jesus. He will wrap His arms of tenderness around you and hold you close to His heart of love and will never let you go. He will protect you from all danger and He will never hurt you or abuse you in any way. He will never criticize you or condemn you. He will be your encourager and companion through the bad times as well as the good times. He will walk beside you, in front of you and behind you to lead and protect you. Give your heart and life to Jesus today and you will have a peace and joy that you have never known in your life.
