PRAYERS

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”

Proverbs 29: 2 King James Version

During a campaign at election time, tempers flare and there are critical remarks made about the candidates. People spend many hours a day trying to sway others to vote for their candidate. If we would put as many hours a day into praying for the right candidate to be elected as we do in campaigning, there would be a lot less confusion and turmoil. We need to ask God which person He wants to be elected.

As vital as it is to pray for the right candidate to be elected, it is much more important that we pray for Jesus to have authority over us instead of satan. We need to be constantly aware that satan will use anything he can to create chaos in our homes, in our marriages, in our churches, and in our friendships.

One of the ways that satan attacks us, and we need to be on guard, is reminding us of the past and the terrible things we did before we asked Jesus to forgive us and be our personal Saviour. Many times we allow satan to convince us that Jesus couldn’t possibly Love us. That is a lie straight from the pits of hell. Jesus tells us repeatedly that He Loves us and has proved it by dying on the cruel cross of Calvary.

How much time during the day do you spend in prayer? Do you talk to Him when you get up in the morning, or do you fit Him in somewhere in your busy schedule? How it must break the heart of our dear Saviour to be ignored! Let’s start praying more often for our pastors, our churches, our families, our loved ones and friends, and for the right person to be elected.
