Did you see that beautiful home on the next street? It is huge and has a swimming pool, a tennis court, three car garage, and they have a big boat in the driveway. Sometimes when we pass the house, you can hear loud angry voices through the open window. I sit next to one of the children in one of my classes at school. He is very disruptive and treats the teacher like she is dirt. This family appears to have it all; everything material that the world offers. However, something is missing; yet it is not a something, it is a Someone and His Name is Jesus.
We can have all the money and possessions that the world offers, but if our homes and lives are not built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ, it means nothing. We can’t take our beautiful homes, cars, swimming pools, boats and tennis courts with us when we die. We can’t give them to Jesus. He doesn’t want them because He is not impressed with the material things that we possess. His heart is touched by the love that we show to our family and loved ones and to the world.
What kind of foundation do you have in your heart? Is it built upon the Love of Jesus, or is it built on the hatred of satan? Who rules in your heart and home, Jesus or satan? If Jesus came to spend the night in your home, would He be able to sleep in peace or would He be subjected to cursing, violence and angry words?
