We need to stay on the alert because satan tries to steal our joy every day. Jesus says in this verse “that my joy might remain in you”. The only way that His joy can remain in us is if we have first accepted Him into our hearts as our personal Saviour. Without Jesus, there is no real joy. The happiness and joy that we might see in this world is a false feeling of security. Only the joy of Jesus will last for Eternity.
Many times we try to act joyful when our hearts are breaking. If we have Jesus in our hearts, we won’t have to pretend. It is not our joy. We could never generate that kind of joy. It is His joy that helps us through the disappointments and trials in our daily walk with Him.
If you don’t feel joy in your heart when you are going through difficult situations, do a heart checkup and be sure that Jesus lives in your heart. Yes, we will hurt and be sad but we will still have peace and joy in our hearts because Jesus is our joy. We need to run into His waiting arms of understanding and Love and allow Him to kiss away our tears.
Have you made a heart commitment to Jesus? Have you confessed your sins to Him and asked Him to forgive you and come into your heart and save you? If you have, then you will have His joy in your heart that will help you to face life’s hurts.
