STILL FAT BUT NOT UGLY

“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7 King James Version

When I was a teenager at school, people used to tell me that I was fat and ugly. I am still fat but I’m not ugly any more because Jesus lives in me and when I look in the mirror I see the joy and happiness radiating from His presence in my heart. I used to avoid as much as possible looking in the mirror because I looked ugly even to me. Now I am eager to look in the mirror and see the difference that Jesus has made in my heart and life.

I am still fat but I know that Jesus loves me exactly like I am and in His perfect timing I will lose the extra pounds because I have asked Him to help me. There is a place in my body where I never want to lose weight. In fact, I strive daily to gain weight there and that place is my heart. I want to feast on His Word daily so that my heart will expand with compassion for others. I want to be more like Jesus in my thoughts, my words and in my actions.

I want to be a person that He will be proud of and I want to make Him happy. The top priority in every person’s life should be to make Jesus happy. If it isn’t then I suggest you do a heart checkup. It’s very important to make our family and loved ones happy but if we’re not making Jesus happy, none of that matters. If ever someone deserves to be happy, it is our blessed Saviour. He has suffered tremendous agony, heartache and rejection.

Are you fat spiritually? Do you concentrate more on your outward appearance than you do on making Jesus happy? Jesus is not impressed with our outward beauty; He is concerned with the condition of our hearts and if we are loving people with unconditional love as He has commanded us to love them. If Jesus lives in your heart, then you are beautiful because you have the love of Jesus in your heart. If He doesn’t live in your heart, then you have the ugliness of satan in your heart.

Today is Valentine’s Day. The greatest Valentine you could give Jesus today is your heart. Surrender your heart and your life to Him and you will not only feel beautiful; you will look beautiful as His love, joy, peace and compassion will flow from your heart and put a smile on your face and a twinkle in your eyes. Happy Valentine’s Day, Jesus. I love You with all my heart.
