STILL IN THE GRAVE

“Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.”

Luke 24: 1 – 6a King James Version

Easter is a time of joy as we celebrate our risen Saviour. However, often we act as if He is still in the grave and powerless. We go around with frowns on our face. We criticize, judge, and discourage instead of encourage. We are saying to the people who are watching us that Jesus is not able to save us and make a difference in our lives. It is time for us to walk in victory through our risen Saviour. He is not dead! He has risen and we serve a risen Saviour not one who is still in the grave.

I have some beautiful Easter lilies on my kitchen table that remind me of the fragrance of our risen Saviour. There is no flower that smells as sweet as Jesus. He is the beautiful Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the valley. Every time that I smell those lilies I am reminded of how much He loves me and my heart is filled to overflowing with awe, gratitude and amazement. Why would the Saviour of the world love me or even think about me? It is because our Saviour is Love!

Let’s start living a victorious life. Jesus has already paid the price in full and our salvation is free. If you have invited Him into your heart to be your personal Saviour, He has forgiven you and cleansed you from all your sins and has put them in the sea of forgetfulness. Walk in the forgiveness and love of our risen Saviour. Live your life in such a way that people who are watching you will see the difference Jesus can make and will want Him in their lives. Are you drawing others to Jesus by your smiles or are you saying to them by your frowns that He is still in the grave and that He is not able to give us new life and a new heart?
