THE DOCTOR IS ON CALL

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

Psalm 121 King James Version

Have you ever called your doctor just to be told that he or she was not available and that if you have an emergency situation to call 911? Most doctors have regular office hours and after the office is closed if an emergency arises, we either have to wait until the office opens the next day or we have to go to the emergency room.

There is a doctor who is always on call twenty four hours a day and His name is Jesus. We never get an answering machine and have to leave a message and wait for Him to call us back because His heart is always open to us. He is always available to us and the office visit doesn’t cost us anything. Nor do we have to pay for the prescriptions or treatments that He gives us. Everything is free to us but they cost Him everything, His life.

The visits, the prescriptions, the treatments and advice that He so lovingly and tenderly gives us have already been paid for in full through His atoning cleansing blood that He shed for us on the cross of Calvary. It would be impossible for us to repay Him for such amazing, undeserved and unconditional love even if we gave Him all of our money and material possessions.

Nothing that we do for Him or give Him could ever make up for all of the cruelty, anguish, horror, pain, heartache, suffering, ridicule, sarcasm, rejection and agony that He suffered for us when He was crucified on that cross of torture for our sins. He was beaten, spat upon, ridiculed, scorned, criticized and treated worse than any person has ever been treated and He had never done anything wrong. No, we can never give Him anything or do anything for Him that could take away the horror and pain that He endured for us but we can give Him our hearts and our lives.

Not only does Jesus heal our physical illnesses, He heals our emotions and our broken hearts. It doesn’t matter if you are hurting physically, emotionally or mentally our great Physician can heal you if you will only go to Him in child like faith. Trust Him and He will take the loneliness and hurt from you. There is no one like Jesus! No one loves us like Jesus loves us. Thank You, Jesus, for not only being our Physician, but for always being there night or day when we need You.
