THE FINAL AWARDS

“And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.”

1 Peter 5: 4 King James Version

What would happen when Jesus comes back for us on that glorious victorious day if He presented to us final awards, would we win an award? There would be awards given in these categories; for the best encourager, the most compassionate person, the one who gave his or her time to others without complaining, the one who hugged people the most for Jesus, the humblest person, the most forgiving person, for the one who didn’t criticize or judge others and for the best listener. Would our names be engraved on one of those awards?

The most important award of all, the highest award given, would be for the one who proved by his or her actions that he or she loved Jesus the most. That would be the award that I would want to win; for others to know how much I love Jesus. If you have ever watched the Academy Awards on television and seen the people who won the awards, you probably have heard them give a speech thanking the people who have been a contributing factor to their success.

I have been to many websites over the last two years and rarely have I seen in their list of accomplishments any mention of Jesus as being the reason for their success. Some of the websites I visited had a separate page to acknowledge people who helped them get where they are today, yet I don’t remember ever seeing these words “It is because of Jesus that I have been able to do these things”.

How this must break the heart of our precious Saviour. There are long lists of accomplishments with the date but I haven’t seen the most important date of all, the day when they asked Jesus into their hearts to be their personal Saviour. If Jesus were to line us up and hand out these awards when He returns for us, would He give you one? Do your actions please Him? Are you telling the world that it is because of Him that you are no longer in the bondage of sin, despair and loneliness? If not, go to Him and ask Him to forgive you and place a burning desire in your heart to tell everyone that it is because of Jesus that you are where you are today. Tell them that it is because of His unconditional love, forgiveness and mercy that you are walking in freedom from your sins and from your past; a life that was displeasing to Jesus.
