THE FORGOTTEN PAINTING

“He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?”

Matthew 16: 2, 3 King James Version

Most of us go outside every day but I wonder how often we take the time to look up at the sky. God has painted a beautiful, breathtaking sky for us to enjoy but it has become a forgotten painting. Not only has He painted His beauty in the sky; He has also painted the redeeming blood of His beloved Son in our hearts. When His Son, Jesus, comes into our hearts to be our personal Saviour, it is then that the most beautiful painting known to man becomes ours.

Weather experts try to predict what the weather is going to be but I wonder how often they stop and thank God for the beautiful sky that He has painted for us. We take so many things for granted and all too often we neglect or forget to thank Him for the things He does for us every day. We also forget to thank Jesus for the sacrifice He made on the cross for us. We take it for granted sometimes. Jesus has removed the blackness of sin from our hearts and painted them with His precious, redeeming and atoning blood.

The next time we go outside, let’s look up at the sky and remember to thank God for His beautiful painting. Above all, let’s remember to thank Him every day for the precious, redeeming and atoning blood of Jesus that has taken away the blackness of sin from our hearts. What a loving Saviour we have! There is no one like Jesus! No one loves us like our Heavenly Father and Jesus loves us.

Thank You, Father, for all that You do for us. Thank You that one day You opened Your compassionate heart of unconditional love and sent Your only Son to die for our sins. Thank You for being a precious and loving Father to us. May we do things and say things that will bring joy and gladness to Your heart. Please forgive us when we hurt You. Help us to be more appreciative of Your amazing and unconditional love for us. The beauty of Your heart of love is so precious to us. When we take You and Your beloved Son for granted, please remind us once again of Calvary and the expensive price that Jesus paid for us on the cross, His very life. Amen.
