For years when I read these verses, I thought about oxen in yokes. I didn’t want anything that heavy on me. Yesterday these verses came to my mind and I realized that the burden He is talking about is not a weight, it is a light. When we accept Jesus as our personal Saviour, He becomes the light of our life. He illuminates the darkness of sin in our hearts with His light of salvation. He takes our past and puts it under His blood and never holds it against us again.
Jesus tells us to learn of Him. To learn something in school, we must spend time studying the subject. It is the same with Jesus. If we want to know His heart, then we will have to spend a lot of time with Him. I don’t know all the geographical places in the Bible, or all the historical events in the Bible, but I know the heart of Jesus because I have spent a lot of time with Him over the last year and a half.
Unless we put into practice what we have learned about the Love of Jesus, then we just have knowledge. There must be a time when we start telling others how much He Loves them. We must get out of our comfort zones and do things that are not convenient for us or in our schedules.
Do you have the light of Jesus shining in your heart? Have you said “yes” to Jesus? If not, please do it now before it’s too late. It is a joy and privilege to serve Him. His yoke really is easy and He is the light of our heart and life.
