THE MAILBOX

“And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words.”

Hebrews 13: 22 King James Version

For over two years, I was unable to walk from my trailer to the mailbox at the end of the trailer court. I wanted to so badly, but just couldn’t do it. I was talking to a friend on the phone last night who was in the support group that I attended when I was going through all those devastating years of depression. I told her that I didn’t remember what made me first walk to the mailbox. She told me that she had mailed me a letter and that is why I had the desire to go to the mailbox.

O friends, we never know when God is going to use us in someone’s life. We need to be encouraging others. I talked a couple of weeks ago with a dear friend in Texas who was the choir director at a church I attended. I told her how much her music had blessed and inspired me at one of the lowest times of my life. She did not hesitate, she said “I’ll sing some songs on a cassette and mail it to you”.

We may not be able to sing, write, preach, teach, or speak professionally, but all of us can extend the Love of Jesus to people. When we fail to do so, we break the Heart of our Blessed Saviour. We can send an email or a letter to someone and encourage them. We can shut off the television, pick up the telephone and call somebody.

Jesus has written a Beautiful Love Letter to us with His Precious Word. Let’s pass His Love Letter to our loved ones, friends, and to a world who desperately needs to know that somebody loves them.
