THE MELODY OF OUR HEARTS

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Psalm 139: 23, 24 King James Version

Every day our precious Jesus softly plays His beautiful, precious and tender melody of unconditional love, compassion, forgiveness, understanding, grace and mercy on our hearts. As He plays His melody of love on our hearts, He kisses away our tears of disappointment, frustration, hurt, agony, horror and heartaches. He is the musician and we are His instruments.

Just as a musician must keep his instruments in tune, so our great musician must keep us in tune. We need to go to Jesus daily, sometimes hourly, and allow Him to search our hearts and remove anything that is displeasing to Him. Sometimes because of hateful and cruel things that have been said and done to us, we allow bitterness, resentment, and criticism to creep into our hearts. We will never be effective witnesses for Him if there is anything in our hearts that hinders our relationship with Him.

Not only is Jesus the melody of our hearts, He is also the melody of peace in the midst of a world filled with violence, hatred and wars. Only Jesus can give us peace when we are in the middle of a crisis. Sometimes our lives and our hearts become fragmented like pieces of a picture puzzle. As He gently and tenderly draws His bow of restoration across the pieces of our fragmented hearts and lives, He puts the pieces back together.

It does not matter how difficult the situation appears to us. There is no problem or crisis that our precious Saviour can’t solve if we will only get out of the way and let Him solve it. So many times we try to fix our problems ourselves. When will we ever learn that we don’t have the power to change other people? Only Jesus can mend a broken marriage. Only Jesus can bring a wandering child back home to us. Sometimes because of trying to fix things on our own we make the situations worse than if we had allowed Jesus to solve them.

The greatest melody that He plays on our hearts is the day that He forgives our sins and comes into our hearts to be our personal Saviour. Have you humbled yourself, admitted that you are a sinner and asked Jesus to forgive your sins and come into your heart to be your personal Saviour? You will never have real peace, real joy and real happiness until you lay your sins at the foot of the old rugged cross.

Until the precious blood of Jesus which He shed for us on the cross has been applied to your heart, you are lost in your sins and on your way to hell for all eternity. You will spend eternity in hell with satan instead of spending eternity in Heaven with Jesus. What is your choice, Heaven with Jesus or hell with satan?
