THE MERCY OF GOD

“How are thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

Isaiah 14: 12 – 14 King James Version

This is one of the most heartbreaking passages in the Bible. God threw satan out of heaven because he tried to be like God. The tragic part of it to me is that satan had it all. Many times we are guilty of having a “holier than thou” attitude

None of us are perfect. Every one of us fails Jesus every day. There is always another telephone call we could have made, another email or letter we could have sent, or another hug we could have given. Thank God for His mercy and understanding. The measure of our service to God depends on how much we love Him.

Someone told me a couple of days ago that he had to do something extra for God. I thought about what he said and it dawned on me that when we love someone we don’t do things for them because we have to do them, we do them because we love them and want to make them happy. If we are doing things for God just because it is expected, then I think we need to search our hearts and see if we really love Him like we should.

It is a privilege to serve a Holy God and one that should not be taken lightly. Remember, but for the mercy of God, we would be in serious trouble daily. I urge you to fall in love with Jesus, the Saviour of the world. Thank Him for the honor of serving Him.
