I just changed the sheets on my bed and the pain from the arthritis in my back was so strong that I was having trouble breathing and there were tears in my eyes. It hurt so much that I wasn’t sure if I could finish making my bed.
O’ dear friends, the pain that I just felt was nothing compared to the pain in the body and heart of our dear Saviour as He hung there on the cruel cross that dark and horrible day. He not only had tears in His eyes; He had tears in His heart.
I don’t read these verses often because they fill me with sorrow and anger. They spat upon my best friend, Jesus. They treated Him terribly. He was beaten worse than anyone has ever been, or ever will be beaten. I get so angry when I read what they did to Him. Then, I realize that every time I say something unkind and cruel to someone, I am just as guilty as they were in causing Him pain.
If you don’t know Jesus, the one who gave His life’s blood for your salvation, I urge you to invite Him into your heart. Don’t let all the suffering and agony that He endured for you be in vain. Invite the Christ of Calvary into your heart now before it is too late.
