When I got up this morning it was cold so I turned up the heat on the thermostat. I thank God for the heat and the shelter of my home and that I am not outside in the cold. Sometimes, we receive heat that is not the right kind. We receive the heat of criticism, sarcasm, and hatred.
There are times when spouses and families are in the heat of an argument. Pastors and their spouses receive heat from the remarks of the congregation. People who claim to be our friends turn against us and say cruel, cutting things to us.
Jesus has this kind of heat every day because people are disrespectful to Him, criticize Him, doubt Him, and ignore His Commands. We should be warming the Heart of Jesus with love and gratitude. He endured the heat of the Cross for us; He shouldn’t have to endure the heat of the world now.
We need to be very careful that we don’t give someone the wrong kind of heat. We need to be giving affirmation, encouragement, and love to our family and friends, and not criticism and sarcasm.
Has your heart been heated by the Cleansing Blood of Jesus? Have you allowed Him to take away the hatred from your heart? What kind of heat are you giving to Jesus and to your family and friends?
