THE SAME TEMPERATURE

“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”

Genesis 8:22 King James Version

My sister likes cool weather but I like warm weather. We may like different temperatures outside but all of us need the same temperature in our hearts; the warmth of the unconditional love of Jesus. Everybody needs to be loved and the person who says that he or she doesn’t need to be loved or doesn’t need anyone is deceiving himself or herself. Even Jesus when He was here on earth needed friends. He even asked His friends to pray for Him before He died on the cross for us. Sad to say, they fell asleep instead of praying and even today some people are sleeping instead of serving Jesus.

While we can do nothing to control the temperature outside, we can do something to help control the temperature in our hearts and in other people’s hearts. If we say cruel and judgmental words to people, we are making their hearts cold. If we say kind and encouraging words to them, we are warming their hearts. However, only Jesus can put the assurance and warmth of His amazing unconditional love in our hearts. Only Jesus can take our hardened hearts and make them soft and on fire for Him.

What is the temperature of your heart today? Have you allowed Jesus to warm your cold and indifferent heart? Are you on fire for Him? Do you have an eagerness to tell others of the love of Jesus? If people were to ask your family if you have a warm or cold heart, what would they say? Let’s get on fire for Jesus. Let’s stop making excuses for why we not serving Him and in the words of a very dear pastor friend of mine in a sermon about prayer “Just do it”.
