TODAY NOT YESTERDAY

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3: 13, 14 King James Version

Yesterday is gone. We can’t bring it back. God heard what we said and saw what we did yesterday. Was He pleased or displeased with our words and actions yesterday? We can’t change what we did yesterday, but we can strive to do better today.

Don’t live in the past because you can’t change your past. For years, I lived in the past and felt so guilty because of the way I treated people. I was horrible to people. I said judgmental and critical things to them and about them. I hated everyone and certainly didn’t trust anybody.

Praise God! One day Jesus reached down His Nail Scarred Hand and lifted me up out of the garbage bin of my life and filled me with His Love and Forgiveness. He gave me a new heart, a heart filled with love for Him and for others. Am I perfect? Absolutely not! I fail Him every day just like you do. There is always something that I could have done that I failed to do. There is always someone I could have encouraged, but didn’t.

No, we can’t change yesterday, but we have a new day today. We can choose to serve Jesus, or to serve satan and the world. What is your choice? Is Jesus first in your life, or is the television and the world first?
