UNTIL NEXT YEAR

“And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”

Acts 5:42 King James Version

Have you ever heard the comment “I’m glad it’s over because we can put all of these decorations and costumes away until next year”? Several years ago, I heard someone who had been in a Christmas Festival at a church make that comment.

Since I am physically unable to sit on the pews and the folding chairs at church, I don’t attend church anymore. Yesterday, I tried to find on television, church programs with special Christmas Music. I found three that sounded nice and the churches were decorated very pretty, however not one of the choir members was smiling. The only smile I saw was on a man who was singing a solo.

If we have allowed the Christ of Christmas to fill our hearts and lives, and if we have fallen in love with Jesus, then we should always smile when we sing about Him. Sometimes, we concentrate so much on whether we are going to sing off key, miss a note, or someone is going to do something wrong, that the music is no longer a love song to Jesus.

If we would put as much time, effort, and all the beauty of a Christmas Festival into each day that we live, we would have a revival that the world has never known. Have we allowed singing to become so full of technical issues that we are no longer singing to Jesus?
