WHAT IF

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

2 Peter 3: 8, 9 King James Version

As you start this New Year, let these verses sink deep into your heart. Many times it seems like we have been praying for our children and loved ones for years. Even if we only prayed one day for our children, He has a thousand years to answer the prayer. The Bible says “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness”. We may feel that He not only hasn’t answered us, He hasn’t even heard our prayers. He is a very wise Father. His timing is perfect.

We have a choice to make this year to serve or not serve Him. God does not treat us like we are puppets. He doesn’t pull our strings and make us do anything. Yet, there are times when we treat Him like He is our puppet and all we have to do is pull the string to make Him do something. He is not a name it, claim it God! He is a holy God to be treated with dignity and awe.

What if we would give Jesus one day out of each week this year and didn’t turn on the television but we spent the entire day encouraging people either by emails, letters, visits or phone calls? We would make His heart to rejoice and there would be a lot less sadness and discouragement in the hearts of our loved ones. I urge you to honor Jesus by giving Him one day out of every week for this entire year. If ever someone deserves to be treated with respect and loyalty, it is our blessed Saviour.
