WHERE ARE YOU LOOKING

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

There is a person I know who has been looking for happiness and peace for twenty years but this person has not found them. I listened as this person told me the other day “I am so tired of living. Maybe I should just end it all and kill myself. I have no peace or happiness. After the high from the alcohol and drugs wears off, I am more miserable and lonely than before I drank and shot up the drugs”. How my heart broke when this person told me this and I shared with this person that the only answer to the pain is Jesus.

This person has been looking for peace and happiness in alcohol, sex and drugs for twenty years and is still full of anger, hatred, fear, loneliness and despair. This person has been unable to have a lasting relationship with someone because of these things. There is no peace or happiness in these things; at best they are a temporary dulling of the pain.

The only real and lasting happiness is to be found with Jesus. He is the only one who can see into our hearts and He is the only one who can take the pain away permanently. He is the only one who can give us a lasting peace; a peace that all the fiery and poisonous barbs of satan and the world can’t take from us. He is longing to give us peace. His heart breaks when He sees us hurting.

If you are like this person and you are looking for relief from all the pain, sorrow, loneliness and anguish of your life, give your heart and life to Jesus. He loves you so much that He allowed Himself to be beaten and tortured and He died on a cruel and lonely cross for you. He is waiting for you with a heart filled with unconditional love and forgiveness and with His arms open wide for you to run into them. Are you searching for Him with all your heart?

Swallow your pride; don’t worry about what your friends will think about you. Say yes to Jesus and you will never be lonely again because He will never leave you, not even for one minute. He will be the dearest friend you have ever known and when you fall, He will pick you up, take your hand and walk with you while telling you that He loves you.

He will be with you through the long lonely nights when all the doubts and fears of your past life come to haunt you. He will lean over your bed and whisper softly in your ear “I Love you and I will never let anyone or anything hurt you again. You can depend on Me because I will never fail you”. There is no friend like Jesus! No one loves like Jesus Loves! He is the answer to everything and the end of a long and horrifying search for peace and happiness. Trust Jesus and you will find the peace and happiness that you have been searching for all your life.
