There is someone knocking on the door. When you answer the door, what kind of attitude will you have? Will you answer the door with eagerness and joyfulness because someone has come to visit you, or will you answer with reluctance and irritation because your television program was interrupted? Who lives in your home, love and encouragement, or criticism and hatred?
Children are being subjected daily to hearing arguments between their parents and sometimes seeing their parents hit one another. They are living in fear of being rejected by their parents if they don’t get straight A’s in school. Their parents are so busy watching television and doing other activities, that they either don’t have time for the children or won’t make the time.
I know a lady who, when she was a child, was paralyzed with fear on a daily basis because of being abused sexually, physically and emotionally. There are many people today who have crippling memories of their childhood. However, Jesus said “I am come that they might have life” (John 10:10) If you are still dwelling on your devastating childhood, give it to Jesus. He Loves you so much and is longing to set you free from your frightening memories. Would Jesus allow His mother to live in your home? Is your home filled with love, or is it filled with hatred? Who lives in your home?
