There are times in our lives when we feel all alone. The question comes from the depths of our hearts just as the question came from the depths of the Heart of our Saviour.
God can not look on sin so He had to turn His Eyes away. Even if God could have looked on sin, I don’t think He could have watched His Beloved Son tortured, beaten, spat upon, and verbally abused. I am unable to watch a Passion Play. I have tried several times, but I have to get up and leave as I can not bear the thought of Jesus being hurt like He was.
Today, you and I still hurt Him by the way we treat one another. He doesn’t ask much of us considering all He has done for us, but He does ask us to love one another. Many times, we fail to love like He wants us to love. We love with a conditional love, not with His Unconditional Love.
We wonder why we have to suffer so much in our marriages, our families, and in our friendships. I’m sure that Jesus wondered the same thing. He, Who had never done anything wrong in His entire Life, had never said an unkind word to anyone, was left alone to die the most horrible death than anyone has ever experienced. His very Life’s Blood was shed for you and me on that cruel Cross of Calvary.
The question that we need to ask ourselves is “Why do I hurt Jesus by my words and actions”? Let’s stop hurting Jesus and start making Him happy.
