WOULD YOU SAY IT

“If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.”

James 1: 26 King James Version

I hate you! You’re so stupid! You’re as fat as a pig! You’re so ugly nobody could ever love you! Has anyone ever said these things to you? Have you ever made these remarks to someone else? All of these things have been said to me.

May God forgive me; I got so angry one time, when I was a teenager, at my Mother that I said “I hate you, Mom”. I have asked God to forgive me and I know that He has forgiven me. I asked Mom to forgive me also. She told me that she would, but the words I said to her can never be erased. We need to pray and ask God to help us control our tongue and our anger.

We are living in a world that is full of anger, hatred, criticism and scorn. Many homes are full of these devastating remarks. It’s tragic, but there are a lot of hearts that are filled with these cruel words and they say them to their loved ones and friends. Even worse than this, there are people who claim to be Christians who are saying all these hateful things to people.

When we get angry at someone, before we say anything negative and cruel to that person, we need to ask ourselves “Would I say this to Jesus?” If we wouldn’t say it to Jesus, then we need to keep our big mouths shut! Remember, the words that we say can never be removed from the heart of that person.

If you are having a struggle with your temper and saying cruel things, ask Jesus to help you. He is faithful and will help you bridle your tongue. The more that we love Jesus, the less we will want to hurt someone.
