I had a very disturbing phone call this morning with someone who claims to be my friend. She hurt me very deeply. Thank God that I did not lash out at her like I wanted to do. Instead, I told her that I wouldn’t call her again and just hung up the phone. Twenty minutes later I received a very sweet email from a dear friend who said many encouraging things to me. Thank God for loyal friends who really do care!
My heart was hurting after I hung up the phone, yet I still had Joy and Peace in my heart because of how I responded to the situation. When we are in situations where our first response is to hurt that person, we need to realize that if we say something hurtful to them, it hurts Jesus.
God used my dear friend’s email this morning to heal the hurt in my heart. You may be the one that God wants to use to say something kind and encouraging to someone. A lot of times we just sit back and think that we don’t have anything to contribute, and that we don’t know what to say. If you don’t know what to say, just tell the person that Jesus Loves him or her.
We need to be very careful that we don’t say hurtful things to others. What we say can never be unsaid! If we would ever understand that when we hurt people, we hurt Jesus, I think we would stop doing it. Are you the one Jesus wants to use today? If so, is your heart right so He can use you?
