YOU’RE NOT ALONE

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

1 Peter 5: 8 – 11 King James Version

Last year in one of my writings, I mentioned that I have a pinball game that I play on my computer and if I take my eyes off the ball for one second then I lose the ball. I wrote about it; I know it; yet I continue to take my eyes off the ball. I allow myself to become distracted. We do the same thing with satan. We allow him to distract us from serving Jesus and spreading the good news of a risen Saviour.

Jesus has told us to stay on the alert because satan is seeking those whom he can devour. We forget to keep our guard up against the sneaky tactics of satan. All too often we take our eyes off of Jesus and put them on our circumstances and then satan attacks us with doubts, discouragement, hopelessness and depression. There is one consolation in these attacks. We are not alone because satan attacks everyone in some way with his deception and lies.

Instead of relying on Jesus to bring us through the situations victoriously we try to fix things ourselves. It doesn’t work and it will never work. Only Jesus can take the fragmented pieces of our hearts and lives and put them together again. Sometimes it feels like nobody else understands our pain and heartaches but one thing is certain, Jesus understands how we feel and how much it hurts. He endured pain, agony and a horror that you and I will never know. He knows what it is like to be all alone. I believe the reason Jesus has told us that He will never leave us or forsake us is because He desperately wanted them to watch and pray with Him but they didn’t; they fell asleep and once again He was totally alone in His pain and agony. Even today, I am sure that there are times when He feels alone. He has told us to pray for each other, to encourage each other and to love each other unconditionally yet many times we fail Him in this area of our lives.

No, you’re not alone. Jesus is with you all the time and He really does love you, so much that He died for you. If you have never admitted that you’re a sinner and asked Jesus to forgive you and cleanse you in His atoning blood that He shed sacrificially on the cross, I urge you, I plead with you to do it now. Do it even as you read this as you may not have another hour on this earth. Don’t miss out on spending eternity with Jesus!
